How to start taking more showers?

I always feel good about myself when I take a shower. But I hate taking them. It’s the getting in the shower that’s hard. It feels like a chore.

I wish I could shower more often, it’s just so hard. People that shower everyday must be insane.

I should start taking more showers though.

I want to shower 2-3 times a week. Right now it’s only once a week.

How did you increase your shower taking?

I just force myself. Works enough

Before I got sick, I used to shower 1-2 times a day when needed and brushed my teeth 1-2 times a day. I was high functioning or normal. I never had pearly white teeth though. I always hated brushing my teeth even before I got sick.

I have cavities now and smell more often. I think the negatives are the reason as well as lack of motivation. I was brushing my teeth once a month and showering like once a week on Vraylar. Now, I’m on Zyprexa and I’m doing it more often, but not enough.

I’ve been showering and brushing my teeth more often now. I think it’s the new medications.

I usually brush my teeth now after I’m done showering. It makes me more motivated.

I force myself to shower almost every day now but I usually just wash my hair, face, and smelly parts and do full body showers on Mondays and Thursdays because I have groups then and this guy has mentioned me stinking twice before and that was embarrassing.

I like music, so I bought a Bluetooth speaker and put it in the bathroom (it’s synced to my phone which is in the bedroom).

I play music on my phone when I shower.

Yeah, the trick is to make showering more enjoyable and easier.

I listen to music too. I used to get panic attacks in the shower. Sometimes I feel really overstimulated.

I don’t like feeling dirty and smelly. It doesn’t feel good, especially if I’m going to be around other people. That’s enough motivation for me.

I don’t understand how on earth I used to work out 6 times a week and shower every day. If my early twenties me could see me he would be disappointed.

I’m only around people when I go grocery shopping. I should start working out again. Then I would be around people.

I don’t like showering either. When I was young, working, and my sza illness was much more bipolar in nature, I showered every single day. Now, I tend to shower about every 3 to 4 days. I hate getting in the shower. Once I’m in though, I’m all good.

What part of it is hard? For me, it’s difficult to shower in the winter because I am cold, and I don’t want to be even more cold. I sit in the bathroom for a good 10 minutes or so and let it fill up with steam, until it’s so hot I need to take off my clothes and get in the water to cool down. That helps a lot. I can do that because I live in an area that has abundant water. The water bill is cheap as a result. If I lived in a drought area, I would struggle way more.

Yes! It’s the getting naked and feeling the cold!! Also I have to get the right temperature in the shower and that part I hate. I usually freeze my ass off before I have a good temperature in the shower.

I’m also sensitive to water temperature, but I have a good shower.

Also, showering in the gym after a workout. You could go 2-3 times a week to a gym and shower there, it saves some money and maybe the showers are better

I take daily twice.once before work and before sleep.

I used only water and Dettol mixed in water. And alternative day use soap.

It’s gives a shocker to the body and keeps me on my toes.

Yeah it sure does

I set the shower at 7/10 and keep it there. I only shower once or twice a week. Maybe a nice shower gel or new bath/shower mats might help.

Find something you like to do everyday and use that to reward yourself for showering

Maybe do it first thing in the morning when you have a lot of energy. That way it doesn’t get pushed until later. Make it part of your routine. Like first thing, get up have some water, take meds then shower then coffee… Like a nice lil self care routine like that could help

The worst part of a shower for me is the initial ‘waiting for the water to warm up’ part. I stand as far away as I can, while using my hands to tell me when the water is warm enough to sit completely under the shower on my shower chair.
