I performed CPR on my Mother In Law
She suffered cardiac arrest.
I resuscitated her.
I was certified in CPR
I was certified in CPR several times when I worked for a security company.
Never had to use it yet though.
I live in fear of having to perform CPR on my elderly father. He is 86 and I am currently living with him. I don’t sleep well at nights as a result.
I have familiarised myself with performing CPR by watching You Tube videos but know that if the time came I would be panicking and in a right state.
Nothing like having someone puke in your mouth while you’re giving them M2M.
I’m not certified but they taught us CPR when i took swimming lessons as a kid. I remember the basics but I wouldn’t feel comfortable performing it because its been over 30 years since my lessons, maybe I should read up about it online in case I need to perform it.
Trust you to think of that.
It’s part of the training. We’re supposed to protect ourselves from transfer of fluid and germs whenever possible (and also transfering things from ourselves to the victim). My first aid kit has a mouth barrier I can use. If I don’t have access to one, I would rip off a chunk of the victim’s shirt and use it as a barrier. Odds are the EMS peeps will cut it off anyhow so damage to it doesn’t matter.
I thought they were being silly about it until I was photographing a rodeo, someone went down because of heat stroke, and I was the nearest person to respond. I got a mouthful of bad beer and chewed corndog.
