How to get relief from diarrheal IBS?

Does anyone here know how to deal with ibs?
I know I kan take psyllium seeds, but they will affect how my body processes my other medications, and I don’t want to risk it.

All the websites just say “eat more fiber”, but what has fiber and is cheap?
I’m so confused.

I need relief. I have to poop all the time, and I don’t havev much time from I feel the need until it has to be taken care of. I’m sick of shitting in public toilets.
I can’t go anywhere, I’m linked to a toilet at the moment.

Does anyone know a quick way to get relief? Is there a med I can suggest to my doctor, or some foods I can eat?

This is what my family doctor recommended but it can interfere with Depakote, so be careful.

It doesn’t work fast and I know it sound counterintuitive but I get into periods of time when I have nothing but diarrhea and I flush my system with magnesium citrate and it resets the whole thing. Of course you have to stay by a toilet for about 12 hours to flush your system completely but then for me anyway I usually straighten out after that for awhile. If I don’t think I can handle that, because it is sort of brutal I try resting my gut by eating a clear liquid diet for a day or two, do things like broth, jello and sprite and maybe nibble on saltines and sometimes that’s enough to settle me down.

Another poster suggested Immodium, that never worked on my IBS, but you could try it and see.

Probiotics might help. I don’t have IBS, but when I take antibiotics my gut gets out of whack and the probiotics fix it.

Coffee can make it worse, if you drink it?

I’m going to ask you this as nicely as I can.
Please stop posting nonsense on other people’s threads.
Stick to the topic or go create a blog where you can ramble all you want. I’m asking for advice, not incoherent babble.

Miika, I’m sorry my English is not very good, I don’t understand what you are talking about, care to enlighten me, or do you just want me to shut up?

You keep making weird posts saying things that have nothing to do with what the topic is about. Your sentences don’t make sense, and they don’t relate to anything anyone is saying.
I need you to stick to the topic or find somewhere else to post.

I am on antibiotics at the moment, that might have something to do with it. I didn’t even think of that.

@Mountainman I do drink coffee sometimes, but not often, because it makes my stomach upset

Yeah antibiotics can cause massive diarrhea issues. Probiotics help. You need more than just yogurt, go for a decent one in the pharmacy. And remember to store them in the fridge after opening them. If the problem persists for more than 2 weeks after your antibiotics, or it gets to the point where you’re feeling dizzy from dehydration, you might need to go to the hospital. Antibiotics can cause a condition called C. Diff, which is basically an overgrowth of the c. Difficile fungus in your intestines. Usually, the healthy gut bacteria keep it in a healthy proportion, but antibiotics kill off the healthy bacteria and allow the c. Difficile to grow out of control.

Are you keeping a food diary? I had to keep one for my diverticular disease (think supercharged IBS). I was surprised to find that certain things were a trigger for bowel upset, like crushed nuts on food for some reason. It helps you draw correlations between what you’ve eaten and what your bowels are doing. I also learned that I’m mildly lactose intolerant so now I pop a Lactaid when I’m going to have dairy and it’s no longer a problem for me. The time spent on the diary paid off.

I’m very lactose intolerant, so I take some lactaids before I have dairy.

But no, I’m not keeping a food diary, but perhaps I should. I know white bread makes it worse, but it’s all I’ve been able to afford recently
