How to defend myself while filing police case against someone?

I’m no longer psychotic and have been symptom free since 3 years.

Lets assume I want to file a police complaint against someone and that someone knows that I’m schizophrenic. What if that that guy lies to the police that I’m being delusional when im not. I was wondering how can a schizophrenic defend himself so that police actually believes what I’m complaining is actually true and not that I’m being delusional ?

What do you want to file charges against him for?

Look for people who know you and who will testify that you aren’t delusional.

You can get a psychologist or pdoc to evaluate you, so that a report can be send to the court (in case of restraining orders and such), or the police.

just say you had gone through a psychotic break - when he thought you were schizophrenic… besides, schizophrenia is considered life long so doubt saying it was schizophrenia but now isn’t would help

Unfortunately, I don’t know anyone who can a testify in my case. I’ve a dysfunctional family, and the person I want to charge complaint for is a family member. In fact there r some people in my family who are willing to testify that liar(family member) that I’m being delusional and my police complaint is false. I’ve no one who can testify me.

Yea I was wondering if my psychiatrist or psychologist may evaluate me and testify my complaint. But that liar can probably bribe my pdoc and tell my pdoc to say to everyone that I’m being delusional. Or instead of bribing he can say to my pdoc that I’m being delusional when I’m not. I’m not married, so maybe my future wife can testify my complaint.

If your pdoc accepted a bribe he would lose his license and never be able to practice medicine again. I doubt he’d risk losing his only source of income for even a few thousand dollars. He will give an impartial evaluation if asked.

You are right, but corruption is very high in my country.I live in asia.

If you’re in the USA, be very cautious around cops. They seem to be very trigger happy around people w/ mental illness in the USA. If you have to be around them, don’t make any sudden moves and follow their directions verbatim. Try to be polite and friendly as possible.

Profs make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. If you were in his position, would you risk accepting a bribe?

What if that liar creates a fake report by saying to my pdoc that I’m being delusional when I’m not. He can gather fake testimonies and tell my pdoc that I’m being delusional when im not.

if you’ve been going to your doctor for a while, be probably knows the difference between you being delusional and not being delusional.

It can be a problem anywhere, I had a tire slashed and other things done to my trucks, witnessed and repaired by professional and when I reported it to Police all they did was go on and on about my illness, Happened about three times, the evidence is there the witnesses are there and they use it as a excuse to do nothing

Anybody can file a police report. It’s important to file it incase the accused does it again to you or someone else. If there’s evidence to proceed with the investigation, the accused can say anything they want. It’s important to have physical evidence. It’s better for you if someone else has the same or similar complaints.

I’ve filled a police report and had it investigated.

my paranoid sz has taught me to think carefully before contacting the police. because most times that I contact them, I’m usually sent to the psych ward or lectured about my illness.

If you don’t have physical evidence, like broken household items maybe? Then perhaps you should talk to your pdoc yourself?

Ultimately it comes down to facts and evidence, and witnesses around a given incident or situation. If you have a good case - then someone calling you names won’t matter.

I was assaulted one time. My doctors urged me to file the police report, I had evidence of the assault from the emergency room. So that’s where I recommended seeing your doctor.

However I see it’s also a common prodromal delusional idea in Sz. So I’d recommend talking to your pdoc either way.
