How to deal with a pushy therapist?

I’ve recently been thinking about getting a job and and I told this to my therapist. Now I feel like she is really pressuring me to apply for a job and honestly it is really bothering me. I felt miserable after our last visit. I am on an ACT team so I’m not sure I can just request another therapist or if I could, that it would be any better. I am also on SSI and live with my parents so it is not super urgent that I find work. I have not had a job in 13 years, so almost my entire adult life. I am not really sure how to deal with this. Is it normal for your therapist to push you like this?

If I have had a good night of sleep before I see the therapist I can appear as though I’m well enough to work. Perception is so tricky! A lot depends on their belief.

Just say you’ve changed your mind about getting a job for now.

I had a CPN who tried to push me. I wasn’t even on benefits for three months… and she said I’ve been on it too long and needed to find work… I ended up complaining about her and never saw her again. I found a job after that when the time was right. Don’t let them push you, say you want to take it at a slower pace and explain you feeling overwhelmed.

Well, they do push you outside of your comfort zones because that’s where most of the growth happens. It’s okay to let them know when it’s more than you can handle.

She thinks she’s helping you. Tell her she’s putting too much pressure on you and you want to take it slowly.

Thats why I hate therapists. They put too much stress on me making my sz worse.

I love my therapist… she’s like my friend
