How to cure severe cognitive problems associated with schizophrenia

hello mates I have severe cognitive problems associated with schizophrenia.
These problems prevent me from functioning, studying and working.
Any ideas how to solve them?

In which specific domains do your cognitive deficits lie. Executive functioning, learning, working memory, attention span? If I were you I would try Trintellix, it is good for cognition. It is a medication ahead of its time.

@eduvigis there are several aspects.
First, severe cognitive impairment, in particular in mathematics, that I used to be very good at,
and now I feel much worse at it.
Second, an inability to focus.
In the past I used to be able to read book and remember what I read,
now I can hardly read half a page.
I was excellent at school and excellent in undergraduate mathematics, even this with a mild cognitive impairment
associated with prodromal schizophrenia and even full blown one…
But now I can’t do anything cognitive, read or study, and my mathematical talent seems
to have evaporated.
I am a complete invalid as a result, because in the prodromal stage the ability to function cognitively was my forte,
and now I lost it.

Isnt there a med in development for?

Here’s a pdf on cognitive impairment so you can understand which domains of cognition you are struggling with.

Again, I’ll repeat, the new antidepressant Trintellix can help you out, it improved my cognition, possibly permanently.

Info about different domains of cognition begins on page 6.

I am bumping up this topic as it’s really important for many people.

try gaba… ask your doc for it…i require the highest dose my doc will give… but every other day I have focus drive and energy… every other day of happy is better than no days…

I also use sleep walkers… it has phenibut in it so be careful but it allows the gaba to cross the blood brain barrier…also sza and bp should probably avoid it I imagine it could make you manic… I have talked it over with my doc and we agreed 3 pills a day a couple times a week was ok… 2 pills does nothing and 4 pills is a bit too much of the b vitimins… you can get them online… but please be careful and ask your doc about it first…

Sulforaphane, maybe.

Bergamot? There’s another thread on that.

Sodium benzoate also helped cognition in the clinical trials.

Does it help if I repeat modafinil again? I don’t want to be annoying with that. There’s a post about it too.

Interesting. I’m not sz/sz-a but my problem areas are executive functioning, processing speed and (visuo)spatial. Maybe also social cognition as my cognitive empathy is not good.

I’m not saying this will work for everyone, but from my own experience when I stopped eating gluten I felt a million times better.

try ginkgo biloba. I am using it right now and I feel great on it

Do you have problems in space-temporal memory? I don’t know if it is calling so, but I mean remembering autobiographic past things (difficult for me yet) in a chronological order, or situating a moment in time. Do you have problems doing that?

Also have you got problems with alogia during making a conversation?

What kind of foods do you eat the most now ??
It’s difficult for me to cut on past and bread

I make simple omelettes with cheese,or baked potato or sweet potato with cheese or baked beans. Sainsbury’s do a 3 bean soup for 50p. Also eat lots of bananas. Sometimes I buy Kirsty’s ready meals as they are gluten free and microwaveable.
Gluten free bread is expensive so I avoid it.
I use lots of butter as it’s actually really good for you. Rice is gluten free.
My immune system reacts in a weird way to gluten. It’s been so long since I ate wheat that I believe I can feel immune activity in my brain if I would eat it. So things like a hot face/head, pins and needles sensations in head, dizziness and a big pulse feeling inside my head. Well that’s what happened last time I ate gluten about 2 years ago and I haven’t since as I believe it’s an autoimmune type inflammation in the brain, but whatever I still have cognitive issues that will never get better probably, but my focus and emotional issues improved so so much

I was diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment a year and a half ago, related to sz, my pdoc said. I had an IQ of around 80. Now, my IQ is in the normal range. I no longer have cognitive impairment. I turned the situation around by taking nootropics by the name of “Cognitex Basics”. I get them online from Quality Supplements and Vitamins, Inc. I also exercise every single day. My form of exercise is yoga, piano playing and taking the up stairs in my apartment complex. I study the instrument, piano. I also volunteer in my community through my church, so I stay social. I read classic novels vociferously. I also eat nutritious meals through my assisted living center’s meal offerings. These are all of the ways that I regained my cognitive function.
