I can’t believe the government in my country… around 850 of our citizens have recently travelled to join Isis and are now trying to return “home” to the UK since the group is losing territories.
What is the British government planning to do about this? Prosecute them? No…
They are planning to give these “people” free council housing and even pay their rents if they do not have jobs. They will also be given priority on waiting lists such as NHS mental health care. All of this is supposed to reduce terror activities…
From my point of view, these evil extremists are being given special treatment for what… for being monsters!!! They fled our country because they do not agree with western culture or values so they think we should be killed and tortured. Yet now they are being welcomed back with open arms and offered free housing!
Seriously, what the ■■■■ is wrong with this country. Our government, police and security needs to be WAY more strict. No wonder so many foul activities happen here… people do not get the punishments that they deserve. It’s so everyone can be treated equally but tell me how the ■■■■ is an evil extremist equal to a nice decent human being who wouldn’t harm a fly?

I don’t know. I think it’s a tricky situation, but by giving them stability when they return they’re lessening the likelihood of them returning to ISIS out of desperation or circumstance. I think it sucks no matter what for everyone involved. But I think I side with your government on this one.
But what kind of message does that send to others wanting to come home but too scared to? That if they leave the horrors of ISIS they get life in prison at home? Hard pass, I’ll go blow something up. Which is not the message we need to be sending.
You have made some valid points there but I just worry that these people returning will take advantage of these nice things being given to them by our government. How will we know for sure if someone is really deradicalised? They could be plotting another attack on our soil whilst having all of their rents and healthcare paid for.
I have no problem with those returning for ethical/moral reasons but many are returning because their plans have backfired and they have the same mind set that they left with. Not good.
I think immigration is okay if people respect the culture and rules of the country they are migrating to. Some people are just evil monsters and therefore don’t deserve to be a citizen in any country.
Also, this is a very complicated issue. They are citizens of our countries. We can’t just revoke their passports and make them stateless. We can’t lock them up for the rest of their lives without extensive proof and a lengthy court trial, and keeping them in prisons won’t necessarily be cheaper or safer than housing them and keeping them under surveillance. The goal needs to be to prevent terror, not to get revenge.
