How old were you when you got your first job (if you ever worked)

I got a weekend job in a pet shop just after I turned 14. Here in the 1970’s you were allowed to work 16 or 20 hours a week at 14. I didn’t have a full time job until I was 19 though.

Back when I was in school, you could drop out and go to work full-time at 16. Now you have to stay in school until 18.

I think I was about 14 and I worked for the Pizza Hut call center in my city.

It was a pretty repetitious and boring job. But every Friday and Saturday was like insanely busy.

It’s pretty funny because a lot of punks and goth kids who were in high school worked there because they didn’t care if we had ripped jeans and purple hair. No one ever saw us in person. We just took orders over the phone at the call center.

:joy:

When I graduated secondary school (high school) at 18. I got a job at a tech company. It was hard to socialise with coworkers and this made me cry. I left after a few days. Didnt matter anyways because I had to leave the country to go to university the next term.
