How much has your IQ been affected by schizophrenia?

Why is everyone so clever

I was near genius before I got ill, now I can’t even read!

Whu does everyone appear to be smarter than you? Is that what youre asking?

Wow. Thats insane.

I would say I’m average for my level of education. Maybe better than the kids I’m in school with because I’m older than them. I’m certainly smart in some areas. But I’m not smart because of SZA.

I used to be a prodigy in writing/English/anything language throughout my schooling. Was ranked in 99% percentile on all language/writing standardized tests in elementary through high school.
Got sick.
Lost many, many abilities. Could no longer finish reading a paragraph. Couldn’t concentrate to write, couldn’t organize my thoughts to write coherently either. I started journaling my thoughts, all disorganized, but I kept writing to practice. Helped with positive symptoms too, as I could vent about them without freaking out actual people.

I went back to college and a professor commented that my paper could use copy editing. It broke my heart, so I worked hard on writing more coherently. Slowly, my wriring got better. By the end of that year, I had scored in the 99% percentile for the Graduate Record Entrance Exam (GRE). My point, even if your IQ took a nasty hit, it’s possible to work some of it back up through daily reading, writing, math activities. I strongly believe intellectual abilities can improve with time and effort. Maybe I won’t be the awesome genius I would have been, but at least I can keep up with other grad students and sometimes even score better than the majority of them. So, don’t give up hope, you never know how far you can get with something until you work towards it!

Just took that iq test and scored 111 when most other tests I took in college were 142 and the European iq test was 172. Either I got a lot slower or a 10 question test is just not that good :weary:

My IQ was amongst the bottom fraggers here just above average. nowdays i think ive gotten more celever can read minds and get people to do things. I just for some reason cannot string sentences together lately and thats like the most important thing on a forum so i must be pretty stupid then

For me I am totally clueless when it comes to those nonverbal tests. I could easily have answered ā€˜don’t know’ to all the 10 questions . How well I do is basically down to how well I’ve guessed. Sometimes I guess a little better or worse than others. Took the first test again and guessed slightly different answers. This time -71,3rd percentile.
55 or 71, what it shows is that I have difficulties with non verbal intelligence.

Have got hooked on these tests in a masochistic way . Have to control myself as seem to be on spending splurge.
Forked out £14.99 for this one . https://iqpro.org/

According to it I’m the village idiot(at least non verbally!)

Youre actually paying money for these things?

It’s the urge to splurge. Sometimes it takes over.

Lost 10 points. Now it’s 110! Actually, I don’t know me is, but I think it’s over 100. Scored 104 the other day on this : http://www.cerebrals.org/jcti/index.html

They wouldn’t tell me the score of my IQ test in the psych hospital, but I suspect it isn’t something to write home to mom about.

I’d be tempted to say that one inflate scores as I got 92, and was guessing all the way through as I didn’t have a clue!
In fact with all these type tests I haven’t a clue, and am basically guessing/randomly picking a number.

I thought it deflated scores. It’s considered pretty hard. I took it and thought I would do better. I did take it when I was tired… I’m pretty sure your iq is above 100 too.

I took that European Test.

Edit: Looks like my IQ is 129 for SD 15

Greatly, I suspect. But there are many other variables to consider. Such as substance abuse, and being done with school

I think Vraylar is helping me. I think it has to do with increasing dopamine because I couldn’t finish/do ā€œhardā€ online courses before. I am taking 6001 from MITx and I have 100% so far. I’m hoping to NOT fail the midterm and final. I used to be a math major at a top university but I dropped out due to developing psychosis. The average math major has an IQ of 130 supposedly, so I think my IQ must be between 120 and 130…
