You can have a chronic disease and have a fairly normal life if it’s well managed.
There are a wide range of outcomes.

20-25% can manage to live alone. 15% can hold some sort of job. I dont like when ppl demean and make light of the schizophrenic struggle by shoveling “recovery” in ur face. For some recovery is extremely difficult. It’s a struggle everyday and even if ur living a successful life u may still be dying inside.
Trust me, this is not what I’m doing here. Pointing out that some recover very well, and that most do at least get better in some ways, should not be demeaning to you. Schizophrenia is still probably the most devastating category of mental illness we have, and I’m certainly not trying to make light of your struggle. I’m just trying to give people some hope that life can get better. And even if you never recover completely, or even very well, you can still end up enjoying life a little again. At least if you don’t give up on it.

Giving ppl false hope is worse than giving to them real. In the end u end up dissapointed

You’ll never know how far you can get until you try. In the end, being disappointed in yourself for not getting far enough is better than being disappointed in yourself for not trying. And if you do try your best, but it doesn’t work, at least you did your best.

Also residual schizophrenia.
I think I’m about 95% recovered. 90 on a bad day. I still have mild paranoia but I’m gonna try to do welding and see if I can hold down a job full time plus hopefully overtime.

Too confusing.
Many recover from first episode psychosis. Drugs, medical conditions…other weirder things can cause psychosis and that doesn’t make you schizophrenic.
What is defining is time with psychosis and why usually symptoms need to be observed over 6 months. That will probably be a little cloudy as antipsychotics are more effective.
If your multi episodic is probably the key. You relapse or get symptoms back whilst on medication or coming off it. If your multi episodic it’s usually schizophrenia for life at the moment with our technology!
I consider myself fully recovered, on medications. I need my meds.
