How many medications have you tried

Wow, you really have the memory of an elephant Jim… if you’re able to remember the order… and there are so many drugs too…

Has anyone ever been on clozaril and had any of the side effects like diabetes or kidney failure or low cbc count? Also does anyone know an alternative to cogentin?

Yep depends on personal susceptibility too. Really unfortunate.

we caught it so early all I do is slightly purse my lips when I’m very tired or stressed. usually it’s not noticeable, but at first it was bad I cried I thought it was going to stay that way. It was in my hands and lips and chin.

Fluoxetine, paroxetine, rivotril, largactil, anafranil, citalopram, escitalopram, desvenlafaxine, venlafaxine, bupropión, diazepam, pimozide, abilify, olanzapine,…

What used to be your abilify dosage, @tera ? And for how long have you taken it before TD set in?

Are you more likely to get TD if the antipsychotic is causing other movement disorders?

I can’t remember, maybe 10 mg BID, does that sound right? And as far as the td goes it was real quick, like less than a week I think. I first noticed it in my hands and when I complained to my husband he pointed out the face thing. I had no idea I was pursing or moving my chin. Thankfully it mostly went away, I saw a lady who had it pretty bad and it made me uncomfortable even though I’m sure that makes me a bad person. It’s just so hard to watch.

“Bis In Die” (Latin) = twice a day.

Wow I learned something new !!

Hmm… 20mg is a bit much for a start dose. Nevertheless, TD usually takes years to develop, I’m very surprised…

I have tried over 20 pharmaceutical medications.

It would be cool if someone who knows all the meds created a survey so everyone could just select what they’ve been on. Could be a resource for the forum

oh I did not know that. I was also told by a pdoc that abilify was designed to not cause td. I have no idea way it affected me so badly, it seems to work great for everybody else. Again I’m just thankful it’s not so bad as to make other people uncomfortable around me. That would suck.

What did you do did you take something for it?

I think that’s why I have to take Cogentin.

Clonazepam

Celexa, Effexor, Wellbutrin, Paxil, Zoloft

Trazodone

Zyprexa, Abilify, Saphris

Now I’m on Trazodone, Clonazepam, Zoloft and Saphris.

I’m on Clonazepam 2 mg since 16 years and I’m totally dependent to it now and it’s almost impossible to stop it. The problem is that it took 12 years to the doctors to think about prescribing me the right medication, which is antipsychotics, and during this time, the only medication that was having a positive effect on me was Clonazepam. If they would have prescribed me an antipsychotic right away, I would have never took Clonazepam.
