Wow you’re on a really low dose! Was your pdoc reluctant to let you on that dose? Also how long have you been on that dose? And how many psychotic episodes have you had, and how severe were they?
sorry for bombarding you with questions but my pdoc refuses to let me onto a low dose, so I am intrigued by your dose
Melatonin 3 mg - for sleep
Aleve - 1 tablet for spinal arthritis due to collapsed disc in lower spine
One a Day Women’s 50+ Multivitamin
B12 Sublingual once a week to treat deficiency
No problem for asking. I changed the info a bit to be more complete.
The last 1.5 years I used first 1mg then slowly down to 0.5mg as a maintenance dose. A few times a year the horror kicks in and I up the dose immediately to 2-3mg.
I had several very severe psychotic episodes. Haldol kicks in right away with me, so they mostly last only days in that intensity. On this dose I got mild positive symptoms.
My pdoc knows. I do not think she fully agrees, but she prescribes and I decide on the doses I use. She does trust that I raise the dose when things turn weird.
My body doesnt quite respond to meds like other peoples. Give me 2mg haldol and I’m knock out for 24hours. Dont expect the same effect as me with my dosages.
At the moment I have no clue what to do. I don’t quite oversee the risks. My life would be more stable and less risky with a little bit more meds. On the other hand, using meds only for crisis would be great, because I’m just more alive on lower doses. I don’t know what is right. I really dont.
I’ve only had 2 psychotic episodes and my pdoc won’t even consider going below 75mg per month. Then again I did bring out a knife during my 2nd episode. Were you ever violent or a danger to yourself or others when you went psychotic?
I was a danger to myself several times, but the last billion times my symptoms flared up i could either ignore them and go to sleep or curb them right away with meds without acting out.
I was not a danger to others, not beyond upsetting them for acting weird. Im always very frightened of hurting others in psychosis, to the point of feeling horribly guilty for “hurting and killing” (picking) a flower.
I must say i DO feel scared of hurting someone in psychosis. It would be my main reason for taking more meds.
Paliperidone 12 mg for voices
Abilify 2 mg for thought broadcasting
Niacinamide 1 to 3 grams for voices
Non-psychotropic:
Amyloban 3399 (a potent form of lion’s mane, it is reducing my voices but is not a psychotropic, it works by increasing nerve growth factor in the brain which repairs damage)
Liposomal Vitamin C (it’s a highly bio-available form of Vitamin C, gets past the 200 mg bodily limit that standard Vitamin C supplements have, I take it for my low-CSF headaches to repair a spot in the dura mater that is leaking)
Liposomal Colostrum (I take it to repair my leaky gut, I’m still sensitive to various foods though so I wonder if it works, other people have reported that it turned their life around though.)
Vitamin B-50 Complex (if I feel depressed ever it’s usually because I’m low on B-vitamins, since studies have tied a lack of them to depression.)
