How many aps are you on? If you're on a few do you think it helps more?

I’m on clozapine and they are starting haliperdidol soon. Clozapine just kept me out of hospital however didn’t really relieve the things that were going on. Do you think another ap will do the trick in your experience?

It’s really worth a try. There’s others here who do better on a combination and if you’ve residual symptoms and still bouncing out of hospital it’s really worth a go.

Listen to your treatment team and take what they suggest. Don’t stop anything. That is where trouble starts.

Not that I know of, most people don’t do better on multiple ap treatment

However I do know people who are on ad and ap who do much better, discuss the meds with your doctor I think they only give injection for non compliance cases

Combining aps is good to reduce side effects by taking a low dose of each.

I’ve been on two-med combos in the past when my positive symptoms were overwhelming me. The combos really helped with the positive symptoms, but at the cost of my other function and being too sedating. Couldn’t do much except sit around and try to avoid falling asleep.

I am always like that with only one antipsychotic 🤷

I was still stubbornly psychotic on two AP’s. So my pdoc put me on a third and all my positive symptoms magically went away.

I was on two for a while and developed tardive dyskinesia. It went away when I stopped one. Not everyone will develop that, but it is something to watch out for.

I’m on one, seroquel. My doctor doesn’t believe in using more than one ap. He said they’d have a horrible effect on my body because I’m so young, and that he’d only try it if I was psychotic on literally every medication. I used to have prn haldol but I haven’t needed it in over a year.

I receive Abilify injections, 400 mg every three weeks, and I take 5 mg/day of oral Haldol I do better with the addition of the Haldol, compared to when I was just receiving the shot. It might contribute to my slowed movements, though; I am now incapable of doing fast-paced work, simply cannot move that fast.

My pdoc doesn’t like me being on so many ap’s. I take 800 mg of Seroquel. It helps with the voices and sleep.

I’m on two AP’S - 200-300mg amisulpride and 5mg olanzapine. I find they work better together.

The amisulpride is good for positive and negative symptoms and olanzapine is good for my depression.

Taken alone the amisulpride doesn’t help with my depression and taken alone the olanzapine doesn’t help with negative symptoms.

I was psychotic on literally every medication except clozaril. I never wanted to risk taking clozaril.
