The first medication I was put on was prolixen when I was 20. I stayed on it for the next 22 years and worked and went to school on it.
This is a trick question for me because I went on risperidol and it didn’t do much then I went on olanzapine had some success then abilify worked wonders till I was 21 I went on risperidol when I was really young originally it was for “ADHD” and it calmed me down a bit I always had sza then at 28 I got put on haldol its been a absolute miracle for me but meds stopped working at times that’s why I say it’s a trick question
It took over 10 years and clozapine was the best one they put me on about 4 years ago…it worked great on psych symptoms but i had to come off of it in February 2024 due to cardiac issues. Now I’m on olanzapine and haldol and they’re nowhere near as effective. I hear the voices all the time again when they were gone on clozapine. I miss clozapine!
Sucks hey, wish they could figure it out quicker… cash grab, thoughts?
I found Amisulpride very good
But it did not treat psychosis based anxiety and in the end it messed with QTc
Took about a year to get on 400mg of seraquel. The first drug I tried was abilify which caused akathisia. Then we tried risperidone which caused a depression that let to a Suicide attempt. Then we tried geodon which worked ok until it eventually led to severe akathisia that lasted over a month even after discontinuing it. Probably the worst month of my life. Then finally they put me on seraquel which I stabilized on. A couple years later we added rexulti and it’s been mostly smooth sailing. As smooth as treatment for schizophrenia goes anyway.
