How is it like to be bipolar?

Hello everyone,
Lately I 've been worried I might be bipolar, too. I have mood change twice or three, four, or five times a day. Is it a sign that this is bipolar disorder? Or bipolar means having a long period of feeling very well and a long period of not feeling well? I 'm confused. I don’t actually feel euphoria, I just feel sometimes really depressed and some other times I have mixed feelings, but that changes during the day. Is this normal?

Everyone’s different.
If you had your moods changes drastically, that could mean something. There is no middle ground in bipolar. Emotions and sometimes delusions are pure and intense. Either way you are not fully conscious. When the feelings are approaching to mania/euphoria you can strongly harm yourself…in a lot of ways (happens to me) Then you can have a strong delusions, similar to sz but oftenly short lasting and temporary. You can do things you’d never imagine to do. Mostly you are sleepless.
Then, when you’re down, its completely darkness and sadness. Those are a typical signs of depression.Lack of will, suicidal and obsessive thoughts etc.
Idk whats an average time for mood changes. I used to have it every month or two.
Happily married with Wellbutrin now.

Thank you very much for your answer. I am happy that you are ok now with Wellbutrin. I don’t seem to be bipolar, have only a few of these symptoms.

Hi @redrose - With Bipolar, there are usually intense mood shifts (mania) and depression - sometimes mixed episodes, where you will experience mania and depression very close together or all at once! - this is called a mixed state.
When one becomes mixed - there is a lot of anger (irritability) most of the times.

I dont know your exact diagnosis, but mood shifts happen with schizoaffective as well - either depression or bipolar.
Some people with Schizophrenia experience mood shifts but they might not be intense enough for a Schizoaffective diagnosis - Best of luck with everything

I think that everything between those two extremes belongs to depression spectrum.
Mood disorders that are related or dependent to people’s reaction on you are symptoms of so called atypical depression.
