Maybe I’m bipolar

Perhaps. I get manic, not as if I’m great and Superman like , but I get so passionately overconfident and optimistic that it comes back to bit me every time I drop down to depression.

My diagnosis rn is psychotic depression, but I think psychosis was a one time thing for me. Can someone give me details about what BPD is and why someone might have it?

Thank u

Well I have sza but the bipolar 1 showed up first. I have no idea why I have it but I have suffered from mania and depression, and while manic gambled and had feelings that I could do. Things that just just can’t be done. I also had mixed states bipolar which ment I’d just be terribly irritable. I’ve been on lithium for a long time now so that’s helped a lot

In my experience, someone has bipolar because it runs in the family, like it is genetic. Also, there is an environmental component too, like an unusually high number of people with bipolar come from abusive or dysfunctional families.
Bipolar is a condition where you get very, very depressed and sad, for long stretches and can’t shake it. This is depression. It affects your work, school, and family life.
This alternates with periods of time where you feel extremely happy and excited about life. You spend more money than you can afford to spend, racking up bills, driving fast in your car, getting speeding tickets and getting into accidents, having promiscuous sex with strangers, drinking excess alcohol and taking illicit street drugs, gambling to excess, getting into risky business ventures. This is mania.
There is another state which is a combination of depression and mania, where your mood is very irritable, you get angry at the slightest things, and you go off into rages. This is the mixed state.

If you demonstrate many of these characteristics, you are probably bipolar. Although only a doctor can really tell.

i dont always feel sad, my depressions are more like a sense of nothingness, minimal joy out of anything, just existing, fatigued and tired.
alternating by hypomanias. I seem to spend more days down than i do up though these past few years.

i had full blown manias early on in the illness but none since then

Level j1 are u bipolar…i have heard bipolar are high functioning then sz…

ive been told both. i havnt been evaluated in years though. so it could be anything.
i still have symptoms of both bipolar and schizoaffective. bipolar with psychosis is very similar to schizoaffective , so similar it pretty much looks the same to me…

some days i am very high functioning. other days i am completely non functioning.

I never had hallucination or delusion …my positive symptoms are always manageble…i have bigger problem with cognitive and negative symptoms …i am bed ridden now…

ah yes,

in the beginning few years I had mostly all positive symptoms psychosis. and more manias.

now i am mostly dealing with negative symptoms or depression without sadness mostly. with the ocassional hypomania moods.
when i have bad negative symptoms im pretty much bed ridden those days as well or lying on the couch. or sleeping 12 to 16 hours a day. i think the most i slept was around 18 or 20 hours a day.
