We had just been to town, and I was going back for my second load of groceries. This elderly woman who had fallen and been taken to the hospital that morning was coming into our apartments as I was leaving. I was hoping I could get past her without having to wait on her if I could. I was headed down the ramp, and this woman and her boyfriend were far enough away that I thought I could get out without inflicting my presence on them. But they sped up, with the sole intention of making me wait on them, and I went ahead and ducked on by them. I should have waited on them. That situation with the groceries is difficult for me. There was this other woman who sat further up in the van who, while she was gathering her groceries, I would sneak out the side door of the van. There was plenty of room for both of us, and she didn’t seem to mind. Also, I got out sooner so I could have the door to the apartments unlocked for her when she walked up the ramp. Otherwise, she would have had to put down her groceries to unlock the door herself. I think what I have been doing is against manners and against protocol. I should probably wait.
That can be a tough. I’ll generally wait on the elderly. Not like I get sidewalk or standing in line rage because of having to wait.
It’s a good thing you recognize this. Imho some people just wouldn’t consider thinking about it.
Good news is that you will probably get another chance to do things differently.
