I was shopping at Walgreens today and I passed a frail, elderly woman using a cane. When I was in line at checkout she happen to be right behind me. My turn came and I turned to the woman and said politely, “You can go ahead of me” figuring it would save her from standing so long with whatever ailment she had. I don’t know what she was thinking but it took her a couple seconds to realize I was trying to be nice. She declined and smiled but it still felt good for a few seconds.

I always hold doors open for the elderly. Sweet of you.
