How do you meditate?

I want to try non religious meditation. For those that meditate, do you have any suggestions on how I should begin or where I can look for tips? I have never tried this in my life.

My old English teacher used to describe meditation as watching every thought rise like a bubble and popping it to end it so that you wait for the next thought to rise and then pop it again

I walk/pace a lot and i find it meditative :woman_in_lotus_position:

My mode of meditation is to walk, work with some stuff, indulge in some activities…

Sit in a quiet place. Focus on your breath. Don’t try to breathe a certain way, just notice your breath. When thoughts come into your mind, don’t get upset, just acknowledge them then let them go and go back to focusing on your breath. That’s all I do and it’s very helpful to clear my mind.

There is a way to cheat the “matrix” I think of it as waves of potential. Inner mind. Still ness. Separate the thought, become the thoughts and vowels, space between or meanings of meanings. I became so ONE that everything that started happening was happening at one, once, and then I learned to control this all through breathing and paying attention. Its a skill that can be developed. Its not something that just comes naturally and it can be really hard to master.

Im working on mastering it more. Paying annoyances no mind, learning to focus on what brings bliss or experience that I learned from. Then taking that karma and learning and utilizing the resonance of health and intention, attraction, the law of attraction is real.

Or I will focus on an image of where I want to be, like a golden palace, or in a movie theater, and then I will imagine I am a tree that needs correction. Most Americans are focused on french fries and trash fast food from wendys.

between us is the air the sky the clouds and between us are the stars

Search YouTube for following the breath meditation or guided meditation. Start from maybe 10 minute one. Build from there.

All you need to do is sit and maintain a posture/breathing. If you end up in a thought train notice it. If you do that and trust the process your mind will empty after practicing a while consistently. It will get intensely loud and it will be hard to sit for a while but that is the process of stuff coming to the surface so it can empty.

Most meditation including Buddhist meditation isn’t religious. The most helpful book Ive found is Zen Mind Beginner’s Mind. Keep in mind there is nothing supernatural about Zen Buddhism- “enlightenment” is a metaphor to describe the very real concrete and mundane process of what happens in meditation. Just disclaiming because the book may seem like woo woo without this disclaimer but it is really the best book on doing it and gave me a breakthrough after not understanding it for years.

I don’t meditate - it always ALWAYS makes my positive symptoms worse. It’s like as I empty my head they fill it up again. The closest I come is doing Tai Chi, but at least with it I can concentrate on my movements and my breathing.
