How do u get motivated to do stuff

i cant do anything really i have no motivation and i just sit around all day waiting for something to change, i haven’t finished any of my work in months i need to do my schoolwork but i have no motivation i am so far behind and the little part i did do i have a 60% i am such a failure i really hate that i have to do this but now i have no other option and i dont see myself going anywhere with school but i dont want to be broke like i am right now when i am older, right now it is literally impossible for me to finish all these classes in the time i have i am gonna have to repeat the year probably which is going to suck i just wish i was rich and didn’t have to worry about school

I take Sarcosine to help me with my motivation. Sometimes though, I just have to force myself to do things. It helps to break the work down into manageable chunks. Take it one assignment at a time. Have you been in touch with your sccool’s disability services? I have special accommodations that allow me to ask for extensions on assignments. Your school might have something similar.

For now, find out exactly what assignments you need in order to pass. 60% is close to passing, so you shouldn’t need too much more. Focus on doing one or two of those extra assignments every day. Right now, you’re looking at a mountain of work and it’s overwhelming. I’ve been there. But don’t look at all of it. Pick one or two assignments and focus on those. Tomorrow, pick two new ones. You can do this!

I’m not in school any more (too old), but in order to force myself to do things, I keep a daily and weekly routine. When I wake up in the morning, I eat my breakfast and then I say my prayers and then I meditate. Afterwards, I wash my face and brush my teeth and sift the cat box. Then, I read my books and magazines. Then, I call up my friends. Then, its time to eat lunch. Then I get on the computer. Or make business calls. Then, its time to go to Rosary group. Then it’s time to go to dinner. After that, its time to pray again then meditate again. Then, I call my friends again. Then at 800pm its time to practice piano for 45 minutes. At 900pm its time to take my evening meds. I might then listen to some classical piano music on Spotify on my computer. At 1000pm its time for me to do yoga for about a half hour. Then at 1030pm I might go down to the lobby for an ice cream. At 1100pm I’m climbing into bed with a book. On Saturdays, I attend church in the morning. On Wednesdays, I attend a volunteer meeting for an hour and a half in the afternoon. I shower pretty regularly every Sunday evening. Sticking to a regular routine works for me as far as getting things done.

i hired a large bald man to stand outside my house… everytime i go out to smoke he asks if i have vacuumed… if i say no he makes a mean face cracks his knuckles and points me back in the house… if i say yes he gives me a cookie…so far this is pretty effective…

Is it Mr. Clean? Maybe you could just get him to vacuum.

I wish I had some good advice. I suffer from lack of motivation as well. The main thing with me is that I am not excited about anything. There is nothing to spring out of bed for. I am just dripping from one day to the next like an old faucet.
I like @Anonaccount idea of keeping a schedule. I try to but don’t make it all the time. I have a school planner but I don’t loo in it every day. I think I have situational lack of motivation if there is such a thing. My number one wish is to have a peaceful brain that is in the zone; relaxed, energetic, motivated and focused with the ability to konk out for a solid 8 every night. Also would be nice (long as we’re wishing) to not be crazy.

Ya, I dunno. Maybe try the scheduling thing.

Some exercises in the morning can prepare your body to do what you need to do.

I drink a lot of coffee in the morning. Other times I force myself to do something so I don’t have to hear my wife complain because she thinks I’m lazy. Other times I do things I can enjoy that is rewarding to me. For me that’s building or fixing something.

I set a whole bunch of calendar reminders and if I don’t do the things I just snooze them. Eventually I get to things. I try to reward myself with something pleasant after tasks I hate.

“How do u get motivated to do stuff”

i remember the importance of the stuff. i also plan ahead about how i will tackle the stuff in a practical manner. if the stuff is a lot, i break it down into an orderly list of sub-stuff.

In college it’s good to make a mental schedule of your day and plan study time into that schedule. And movie time, friend time, etc. organization is key! Also maybe try a lighter course load.

It helps to have the task stuff right in front of my face (no pun intended).
