How do comments get hidden?

How many flags precisely does it take? How ‘automated’ is the process? Thanks.

I think it works like if you have a good flagging history,

It gets hidden right away.

If you don’t it takes multiple flags.

I’m not 100%, but I think it’s something like that.

I think it is one.

Do you want to know so you can push the limits?

And would that be an automated process as well, the more times you get comments hidden the easier it becomes to get comments hidden?

I already did that a long time ago. I’m asking because after all this time I’m still baffled by the system.

@system ranks a person’s flagging helpfulness level by a ratio of flags made: flags agreed with. Anyone with a rating of over a certain percentage (i believe 80%) of flags agreed with will get a post automatically hidden when they flag it. For all others, it takes two flags before a post is automatically hidden.

Thanks. These “superflaggers” sound scary. But otherwise it takes precisely two flags, interesting.

lol, since when did your tagline become “preppy cow” and is there a story?

Someone on the forum was being very insulting and called me a “preppy cow”, I thought it was so funny, I changed my tagline to it.

My best friend in High School had a boyfriend that didn’t like me, he called me an Amazonian. I thought it was so funny because I’m only 5’ 2". But my best friend was 4’ 11". So compared to her I guess I looked big idk.

They aren’t scary. They are super helpful, because they generally have good judgment over what does and does not need ro be hidden, and this saves a step when we are away.

Hahahaha. Great story  .

I think you should remember that most people actually are more likely to view a flagged post than an unflagged post so the “superflaggers” aren’t really doing much for hiding content. It is mostly for the purpose of getting the attention of a mod to deal with questionable content or a out of control poster.

For those of us outside it’s probably scarier because we have no idea of who they are, what really drives them, what the personal entanglements might be.

I think I might be one, if anonymity is your worry, because I flagged a post the other day and it was immediately hidden. I have probably only flagged about a dozen or less posts in the 1.3 years or so I’ve been here. I don’t flag very often.

That post was flagged twice.

Ok, well nevermind then, I guess I’m not :stuck_out_tongue:

Didn’t say that either

I see, I’d have expected that on top of a good flagging ratio you’d need to have flagged a minimum number of posts.
