Just wondering…

it was a piece of cake. I had no choice really, parents got together, 9 months later I was a canadian citizen

i dont actually know of the immigration process. I think you need to get married , or business for 5 years or some contribution.

If you’re being sponsored by a relative, you’ll likely get in. If you’re unable to support yourself and you need to live on benefits, you’ll likely run afoul of the inadmissibility guidelines and be turned away:

Hope this helps.

Yeah I’ve got plenty of relatives scattered throughout Canada but I’ll need my benefits to survive.

Thanks @MrSquirrel @LevelJ1

They would need to commit to financially support you in place of benefits in most cases.

I’ve actually considered emigrating from the U.S. to Germany. My mom and I have talked about it (she immigrated to the U.S. from Germany many years ago).

I was just curious really.
I love our Northern neighbors.

Unfortunately, with our terrible covid numbers here in the U.S., we are likely personae non gratae in other countries for now until we get covid under better control.

It’s going to get bad in all the places where the temps are dropping in the next two months. People trapped inside with recirculated viruses. Er, air.

I’ll be honest I thought about getting (just thoughts) asylum (if that’s the right word) in Canada because of what happened to me. But I think America is pretty safe and the best country overall. I’m terrible at languages and I’m 31 and don’t expect to learn a language fluently enough unless it’s Spanish or German. Canada is nice, it’s close, and safe. But I’m not a fan of the PM. I think I’m better off in the USA anyways.

My favorite country is Germany but I think they turned it to crap – pretty much the rest of the world has turned to crap. US is no exception. I think Europe will be a bigger mess soon so I’m just staying here. We got 50 states. I hope to find a gun friendly state and maybe in a few years have a gun for recreation and self-defense and live in a state with maximum freedom, minimum taxation. I think Nevada is a decent choice. That’s where my dad is moving too, but we don’t get along. I really don’t like my stepdad anymore in someways, but we keep the peace and I respect him somewhat. I just cannot stand being a bum. We live in filth and I just wish my mom could take care of herself and move on – he’s getting dementia. My brother is 22 and is a big boy and can move on or get a better job. It’s time to stop babying him. I’m disabled from multiple programs like SSP + Trauma. I don’t expect people to believe me, but I expect I won’t get benefits anywhere else like here unless I am believed and I can’t really run away from my problems. I think USA has the best, strongest military and I feel safe here. I am a good decent person not looking for trouble. I just want to be left alone and be safe and enjoy my life to it’s fullest and live a long healthy life for once.

Canada is amazing and they speak English! Norway is my second choice. Very beautiful nature and beautiful women. The language is just a turn off for me.

I didn’t chose or pick my parents and they certainly didn’t pick me. (I don’t consider my step-father a father figure, more of a co-worker or roommate or associate). I sometimes feel I got crappy parents but it could be a lot worse, I guess. My mom is nuts when it comes to religion. I love her, but it’s almost insane how crazy she is! I try to please her and fit the mold, but I also realize I will NEVER be like her and that’s okay.

My parents don’t believe any of the stuff I talk about but I know I’m not legitimately insane or crazy and I got more stuff going on. If I ever come across a few million dollars, I might travel to another Country or a nice State like Florida or even Hawaii. I don’t know. Like I said, the states got problems, but we are pretty safe compared to the rest of the world. I think my main priority is protection and freedom. I got the most freedom here in the USA. It might not always be like this like freedom of speech and mental health laws. I like California because some states are pretty strict and backwards in terms of mental health laws. I was thinking Texas the other day and some states in the South.

I don’t want to live in any other country. I’m quite happy and content living here in England.

I love my country but right now feeling a bit lost.
Don’t want to get into the details.

You wouldn’t need to learn French to move here. Most Anglophones here don’t speak a second language. My being bilingual in Alberta is not only weird, but actually a touch socially unacceptable (Quebec is reviled in this province, often with good reason).

It’s pretty easy to become an American Citizen. You know that big green lady standing in New York harbor? I know it looks like she’s wearing a nice gown but it’s actually a maid uniform.

Peace.
