Home from hospital - and my diagnosis now

So…I was three weeks away in hospital.
18 Oct (a Monday night) went to ER, and spent 6 days in general hospital makeshift psych ward. Then was transferred to govt psych hospital. Spent two days in high care (acute) ward, three days in another ward, and finally a week in discharge ward.

Life in govt hospital is very plain and simple. Food ok but not exciting. The psych hospital had vegetarian/vegan option but the porridge lacked salt and tea time was bread and butter or peanut butter or jam occasionally but mostly margarine alone. In all but discharge ward we had to wear hospital clothes but in last ward we could wear our own clothes. I had very little with me as general hospital lost some of my clothes again for the second time.

I was told by pdocs that they wouldn’t keep me for long but I was at psych hospital for nearly two weeks (not including the six days before that).

The ladies in the wards with me were actually quite fun, even in acute ward. There were a few screaming or fighting or wailing but most were ok to talk with.

All in all it was bearable but I was so impatient to come home by the time I was transferred to discharge ward but had to endure another week. Gosh, I cried this morning as it became unbearable but then I learned unexpectedly I was to go home today. Yay!!

So here I am. They didn’t allow my phone so that’s why I was offline.

It’s great to be back :blush::blush::blush:

Oh yes and they struggled with my diagnosis but settled on schizophrenia unspecified.

I guess it is easier to grasp in our country than sza. All the govt hospitals say sz instead. So I will settle for that as it’s how it is in SA

And that’s my news! :v::sunflower:

Welcome back! Were you happy with the quality of care in the psych hospital?

Welcome back @Hadeda I was last in the hospital in 2018, twice for about a month total. I didn’t cry but I was really happy when they told me I was going to be released. I was trapped on the ward most of the time and didn’t have my phone. Near the end they let me off the ward with parents for 30 minutes so I could go to the hospital cafeteria and get a coffee, then go outside to get some fresh air for a bit.

Only in Canada! :smile:
