High internet service bill

My internet service provider bill jumped this month from $76 to $91 a month!!! And that is with Cox. No landline phone and no cable. Just internet service. I rent my modem/router for $13 a mo. and pay for tech support for $10 a month.

I can’t believe I’m paying almost a hundred a month just for internet service now! That’s outrageous! And Cox has a monopoly in my city.

Sounds like a rip off. I pay 20€ a month for unlimited texts, calls and 10 GB of data on my phone.

I live above a business and have access to their WiFi for free. Great way to save money.

Do you have a desktop, or laptop computers and a smart TV?

I have an iPhone, iPad and Laptop. No desktop and just a regular flat screen tv.

I pay Cox about $350 a month for phone, internet and cable. Now I can deduct it as a business expense though. Well maybe not the cable.

Do you pay for cable or satellite TV on your flat-screen TV? Or do you watch streaming TV on your laptop? Or both?

I don’t watch much tv. But I have cable. It’s like 10€ a month and I keep it because sometimes I like to watch the news or practice my languages with Spanish, French or BBC/CNN.

@TomCat you got money coming out of your ears. None of us can relate. Or at least I can’t.

I guess that phone, cable, internet are more expensive in the States.

On the other hand grocery shopping is more expensive in Belgium.

I don’t know about that @Jonathan2 . My grocery bill the other day came to well over $350 what with taxes, tips, and all the many fees associated with it. It was quite a shock. And I’m the only one in my family.

That’s really expensive. Have prices gone up much like they claim in the news?

Yes they have. Everything has gone up. Especially housing, food and gasoline.

I pay a chunk for mine, but we have top tier service. It’s still cheaper than it should be because my hisband got some kind of deal on it.

I don’t complain because i used to be stuck in an area where the only option was satellite and it was $120 a month for a few gigabytes of service.

@SkinnyMe Cox owns my city too.

I was getting $50 credit / mo on the federal EBB covid assistance program - its being reduced to $30 soon but every dollar helps.

I doubt I’d qualify for this.
