Help!! Seroquel and severe paranoia!

Omg, my paranoia is terrible, just tonight I’ve looked out the windows from dark rooms at least 8 or 9 times, that’s why I had to get on here and see if anyone else has these problems on this medication. I’m on 600 mgs of seroquel and started taking it after I got out of federal prison after over 4 yrs in December, my doses have been increased slightly throughout these 7 months, anyways I’ve always had paranoia from it and I think a lot of it has come from being in prison for so long and hearing about all the massacres and ■■■■ that I feel like I cant trust ANYONE OR ANYTHING now. it drives me absolutely insane, but without the seroquel I cant sleep like literally at all. Idk what to do :sob::sob::sob::sob: does anyone have any advice, I’m so severely desperate. Thanks for your time in advance

Hi welcome again. It’s all about function and if your struggling you need to talk to your doctor. Seroquel is known for it’s sleep but another med may help with the paranoia or you may need to increase it again. Is this a gradual thing or did it get to you all of a sudden?

Its ssri, serotonin increasing one which causes mania and positive symptoms like paranoia in some which include mood disorders like bipolar, schizo affective etc. I suggest you to ask your doc to prescribe some other medicine for sleep.

Here are few tips to sleep better.

Never take nap during the day even for 5 minutes and thus remain busy during the day.

Awake at a fixed time on morning even if you sleep less at night say for example 8 am.

Be on bed at slerping time whether feel sleepy or not.

Avoid all caffeine beverages like coffee, black tea etc after 6 pm. Also avoid sugary foods at night.

There are few natural supplements you can try for getting good sleep. Zinc is one among it especially if you are deficient in it. Anyway do ask your doc if you can take zinc.

I was on 600mg seroquel and it did absolutely nothing for me. I’m on abilify now.

I was on 600 mg Seroquel last year and had insomnia when I came off it but after a while I was able to sleep just fine without it.

That’s what you get for not reading the fine print.
