I only really know English (I know ~40 Spanish words because I live in a majority Hispanic area, so some of the language rubs off on me). I’d just be chilling in my bed and then all of a sudden I hear a bunch of Armenians speaking Russian. On another day, I heard a bunch of people speaking Spanish. I do not have very good Spanish, so I could not tell what they were saying. This is the first time I had heard hallucinations of people speaking in a different language (although I’ve had hallucinations for years). Anyone else ever had hallucinations like this??
I heard a voice speak French once. That was weird. But not since.
That’s funny because during a psychotic episode I started teaching my voices foreign languages. Instead of saying horrible things I taught them Spanish and French. My joke was that they speak to me in sign language, which I barely remember, to quiet them down.
Apparently they’ve learned a lot from you then. I think the voice I heard speaking French was mimicking something it heard on TV one day. Kind like a parrot.
I’ve been diagnosed with sz for about 3 years, having the symptoms much longer. One of my voices (an older, proper male) speaks primarily in Portuguese. Keep this in mind, I know ZERO Portuguese. I happen to know it’s a real language and not gibberish because I’ve Google translated a phrase he uses often. It was definitely Portuguese. I thought this was abnormal but I wasn’t sure…
That sounds bizarre. If it was truly another language and you do not even know the language.
My voices were German sometimes but I was born there so I know a bit.
I am bilingual, but I rarely hear voices in Korean. I think it’s because I speak English mainly.
When I started hearing voices in America in 1998/9 I had voices in English, but nowadays I have voices in Finnish.
TRIGGER Warning: That is bizarre, the illness in me says that it is the voice of whoever is doing that to you. How can the brain know a language you’ve never even heard of before
Were the Americans definitely speaking Russian?? Did you google some Russian phrases or something?
Ive recently heard a conversation in Japanese. I dont know any Japanese I don’t even watch anime.
Hi @Artistic_Schizo welcome to the forums
Typically, we like to leave inactive threads alone and just start a new thread instead. This is different than how some forums are run, but we do it this way because it frequently upsets users to have old topics revived when they are no longer relevant. It can also be frustrating to the person who revived the thread when they don’t get a reply, because the original poster is no longer active or no longer finds the topic relevant. Feel free to start a new thread on this topic.
