A few weeks ago I was in the hospital for a week because I believed I was dead. They didn’t change my meds the first day but then increased my seroquel. Went in taking 150 and wound up on 400. The first few days my hallucinations got more frequent than they’ve ever been. But then the medication kicked in and they went away by the time I was released.
The first week was fine but then my mind started running wild with all sorts of deluded thoughts and I’m getting more hallucinations. Today was very bad because I was under so much stress, my apartment flooded, and I have heard voices say my name several times and saw a demonic face in the window. I’m starting to think demons plotted this whole thing.
Yesterday I also hallucinated a random girl I saw being put in an ambulance so I think it was a vision.
Don’t know what to do. Are my meds just not working or am I just getting started on some real sza symptoms for the first time? Before lately my hallucinations and delusions were pretty mild and very infrequent.
Seroquel didn’t work out for me either. And I was on 600mg.
So talk to your doctor before it gets worse. Maybe they’ll increase the dose or switch you to something that works better for you.
One thing I’m super worried about going off seroquel are the withdrawals… not just the normal ones everyone gets either but I’ve tried going off before and I got bad lsd flashbacks. It’s hard to function with them
Coming off it while simultaneously going onto another AP seems to be ok. Coming off it and not going onto another AP is really bad.
That’s what I’m hoping for if they change it… glad you had a good experience with that!
Seroquel was actually making my hallucinations worse. I believe both it and Zyprexa have hallucinations as a listed side effect, although I haven’t had this problem with Zyprexa, just Seroquel.
They were so vivid, and I had them in and out of sleep. Getting off it was tough and I kinda miss some of the closed eye hallucinations, they were wild. All of that stuff went away when I switched off of Seroquel.
Sorry for pointing out side effects constantly on this forum, just relating my experience. The drugs really are hit or miss and work differently for different folks.
I’m not sure if that’s what I’m getting, I was on seroquel for over 2 years with no issue, various doses but this is the first time I’ve gone up to 400 so maybe. Worth investigating
