Did your doctor switch your medication? Did they do any other examination or tell you why they are switching it? Or did you stay on the same medication? My doctor switched me based on enlarged breasts alone when I specifically told him I don’t have any other problems but didn’t seem to want to tell me why.
Raised prolactin …
I had that on risperidone
It stopped my periods
I think it’s pretty serious although not immediately but in the long term
Maybe that’s the male equivelant
Don’t rule out the typicals, at least diabetes is not. a risk
There are plenty of meds to try
I know raised prolactin can cause sexual dysfunction in men or as you say stopped periods in women and that’s indeed serious because it means testosterone (in men) or estrogen (in women) is low, but I wonder how other doctors acted when their patients (we) only had raised prolactin/enlarged breasts and no other problems.
Mostly I just want to know if I really need to switch because after doing my research I strongly suspect that, based solely on the fact that I have enlarged breasts, I don’t. Not without further examination like blood tests. If this is not allowed here feel free to delete this post (only this post, not the whole thread ).
I still welcome posts about your experiences.
Im male and i dont know if my breasts grew because of my meds or because of all the weight i put on because of meds.
LOL! I have ALWAYS had large “that” since i was 9 y/o (probably bigger then your current wife’s LOL at that age)
I am currently on Risperdal, and my chest area (breasts) seem to be a bit fattier than normal.
My doctor has been talking about switching meds - possibly trying out Saphris.
I don’t think that she is concerned too much about my enlarged chest - or even the fact that I “lactated” a little bit, a while ago. (Im a guy)
She is more concerned about Diabetes and weight gain, because these are not good for my over all health.
The problem is that Risperdal has been a very stabilizing med for me, so I really am afraid to venture off of it and trying out a new med that may not work for me.
Trial and Error is the name of the game with these meds - Mentally, Risperdal has been a Godsend for me
