Every now and then ive come across certain people, who in my opinion, just never get it. They see people like us with illnesses and come to their judgements but their understanding of human suffering is limited. When they vocalize their views it is laughably naive and tactless, as if they grew up in greenhouses without much contact with diverse people… thus coming across as sounding spoiled and bratty while innocently self righteous. I sometimes wonder if their naiveness makes them incapable of managing or influencing people bc they think the mentally ill or troubled people are inferior. When they try to find weaknesses or make a statement about changing people ( who in their minds should be “taught” ) they are ridiculously tactless and egocentric. They just. Never. Get. It. They cant relate at all. They think they are perfect and dont understand humility or shame.
Have you come across such people? I get this from some asian geek nerds. Who also never understand stigma or underprivilege bc they cherry pick sweet honey from peoples field all their lives or are handed everything to them? People who think they never made a mistake, studied well, got their dream job, achieved privileged status. And never got sick like us.
Schizophrenia is a dangerous disease. People who are untreated are a threat to themselves and others. Even people who are treated are a threat to themselves and others.
I can see why normies who have a choice don’t want to hang around with us. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
I’m of the mentality that anyone who’d judge me for my illness isn’t doing anything positive for my well-being so ■■■■ them (I still try to be nice though).
Schizophrenia manifests differently in different people. What you say about schizophrenics doesnt reflect what the experts say. Thats a stereotype. Experts say that schizophrenics are more likely to be abused than act out violently. Look it up online.
In addition it doesnt make sense to say that being treated doesnt make a difference. Thats far from the truth. Otherwise why take meds.
From my personal experience, i was well functioning in the past. A psychotic relapse before i became seriously ill was merely like an annoying but recognizable radio playing in the background. I had enough insight.
It was only after my room mates idiot treatment of me that i gradually became disabled. The psychosis symbolism in the worsened schizophrenia could be traced back to his intentional and very deliberate egocentric actions which went on for many years. He never once listened to my point of view or bothered to adapt his response because he was brazen facedly self serving, invading my boundaries.
People who dont have schizophrenia can be worse human beings.
