Have you ever been in love?

I was a sucker for love in my life time. I first fall in love in primary school. Then two times in high school. I thought my matric girlfriend was my soulmate but we had to break off because of many external factors.

After that it took me 8 years before I fell in love again. That was my first fiancé but it did not last long because it was a hot and cold relationship.

My second fiancé was also my best friend. We lived far apart so needless to say that also did not last.

My third and last fiancé became my wife. I became paranoid and delusional during our marriage and my psychosis amongst other things resulted in our break up.

I promised myself never again. I am going now 12 years without a relationship and I cannot see myself falling in love ever again.

I dont think ive ever been in love. I would love to atleast feel it one day. This is no sympathy thread.

Ive been told im not allowed to fall in love and that things will go wrong and ill kill my family if i do. I push any girl that comes near me away with some ■■■■■■■■ excuse just so i can get out of the dangerous situation.

So im 28 had a few kisses before i was 20 and now its overs. I dont believe anything is going to save me from this one. Its too intense. Ive been battling to trust my own mother lately, its very shite. I long for love for the basic things like having stupid arguments over money, or even those stupid skinnering about other couples rubbish or just spending time doing fun things with genuine smiles.

It is what it is. Pyschiatrists can say what they want. if i could feel love for oneday from another girl i would be content and ready to die.

I had girls runnning after me aswell not to sound stupid. i havnt left my house for 4 months now besidesgoing to work and being sheltered.

Love must be great. I love my mom. my dads run away and is probably more crazy than i am.

I think the luckiest person in the world is one who has felt what its like to FIND love.

I’ve been in love with imaginary friends more than real guys. I was in love with Van Gogh for many years and even Martin Luther! My first boyfriend was only a two month infatuation and my second boyfriend I cared about but I was too sick to be really in love.

My husband i love and care about but it was arranged marriage so I wasn’t really in love as such when I met him. I met him assessed his character and prayed for guidance then we got engaged a month later and married a month after that. But I do love him even though I’m not “in love”.

I think “falling in love” is superficial and misleading. It can lead to fornication and adultery. It does not usually last. True love is a daily commitment and it’s tough but beautiful. That’s what counts.

But thats just my opinion

I have been in love with a guy that was a jerk with anger issues and Aspergers.
He never got help for it during our 5 year relationship even when I asked him multiple times.

I was the doormat of the relationship and did everything that he needed to be done.
He got used to being helped that he never helped me back when I needed it most.
He was a very selfish guy and couldn’t handle any form of criticism.

Thank goodness I got out of that bad relationship when he started hitting me because of his anger issues and temper tantrums.
I think he made my psyche leave me and I became a clear example of learned helplessness. I had to stop being a person and just be a servant to him that walked on egg shells.

I want to be single for the rest of my life.
I never want to be in love ever again.
A relationship is like poison in the back of your throat. That’s how I see it.

Before you even replied I was thinking about you and I wondered what your take might be on this. I have reason to believe that my ex wife was also in love in fantasy.

I used to go with her to cinema nouveau and watched all these artistic movies.

She also introduced me to the work of the sexologist, Alfred Kinsey. There was a film made about him and we also went to watch that. I somehow got the idea that she was living out a fantasy.

I am not sure if I fell in love really because I was psychotic twice and was not even attracted to the first guy.

But It is not really love. I think love comes afterwards, sometime into the relationship… when the weird phases disappear. This is why everybody breaks up. They think they grew apart etc. Love is compromise and it is a decision to stay in a relationship.

What do you think? How long was your last relationship?

When the circumstances are perfect, it is easy to fall in love and have fun. During the difficult times, when you have to take care of each other or be there for another, is love. Words from MsTigrée

I wonder in my next psychosis - who would be the mystery man. There is always a guy involved in my psychotic breaks. LOL I just wish and hope I do not harass anybody.

I thought I fell in love with this girl in my school a year younger than me. She was Spanish. I messaged her recently and she didn’t reply. So much for that.

Well I thought a friend of a friend was secretly in love with me =( so I sent me some weird stuff on Facebook, called him and SO GLAD he did not reply his phone. The humiliation is unbearable. And once, we were watching fireworks in downtown, I almost got on one knee and proposed marriage. :scream: I was completely out of touch though.

Just a couple weeks ago he liked one of my pictures on FB, He is married now but wonder if he and his wife/family realize that I was so sick.

I’ve never been in love, and I’m perfectly content with that. I guess I’m still pretty young, but I’m not looking for a relationship any time soon. I would like to adopt some kids in the future, but I don’t think I want any of my own. Mostly I don’t want to have kids that are as messed up as I am lol. I love my friends and family and that’s enough for me.

I agree with you fully on that. My last relationship lasted for only 3 years. I was besotted with this woman from day one till the last day. She wanted the divorce and not me. I believe that I grew from being infatuated to really loving her. I granted her the divorce because I respected her feelings even though I was devastated.
