No- due to a ‘If you want to be a good person’ approach by 2 therapists I saw ; as though I was a moral degenerate . There being no attempt to help me cope better .
Yes some therapists have helped me. Mostly emdr helped, regular cbt not as much.
I had a therapist, but the only thing she was asking was if my friends are ok, if we had contact etc. Nothing about my schizophrenia, coping skills for delusions etc. I quit
All therapist I had, educated me about my illness. I got a better understanding in expression of my disorder and to deal with my sz. I am not outcast to our local cementary, neither do I have to see anyone from mental health anymore. I feel so healthy I feel fraudulent to the workfòrce cause I think i could work after being in the workcamp. But coming out of disability pension is difficult cause of being wrongly diagnosed issues with the doctor.
What was your experience with EMDR? I’ve been wanting to try it.
I found it very beneficial and I learnt a lot about myself. I did CBT and would definitely highly recommend it to anyone.
I always went to therapy for my childhood and marital domestic abuse, my suicidal depression, my psychosis, my bisexuality, and my grief from my son’s suicide.
While it worked for all the abuse, sexuality and grief issues, it did nothing for the psychosis or the suicidal ideations.
