Has anyone tried abilify with wellbutrin?

I’m thinking of talking to my psychiatrist about adding wellbutrin to my current dosage of abilify due to depressive symptoms. I was wondering if anyone had experience mixing the two.

I’ve been taking them both for about a year. Good combo. Others might find it too activating but it works for me. I’m also taking a bunch of other meds.

I’m on both right now, and it is definitely very activating. It helps a lot with the depression and getting motivation, but it’s really increased my anxiety and I have a some akathisia also. I would think the doc would want to try an SSRI first if you haven’t already

I take both Wellbutrin and Abilify, I also take Invega and Ativan. I don’t notice much from the combo of Abilify and Wellbutrin that stands out as activating but the Invega may be overpowering that.

Don’t know about the combination but I love Wellbutrin it helps me not kill myself daily

I take low dose ability and 300mg Wellbutrin and it works for me.

Thanks for the input @Skims @zwolfgang @SammyP @brandotron @mistery . I decided I’ll talk to my pdoc about adding wellbutrin.

And @zwolfgang I had tried an ssri last time I was depressed and it didn’t help. I have read that wellbutrin can also act as a smoking cessation medication. So it could help me stay off cigarettes too. It’s more activating effects could also help my fatigue. That’s the main reasons I am interested in it particularly

I’ve taken both med’s, but not at the same time. I think they have been promoting Abilify as a drug that enhances antidepressants. Wellbutrin works differently than other antidepressants, though. Maybe you should talk to your pdoc before you take both of these drugs at the same time.

Don’t worry. I would only take a medication with my pdoc’s approval
