has anybody successfully lost weight while taking an antipsychotic which says weight gain?

such as Abilify or respiridal ?

I lost 51 pounds while taking Seroquel. My girlfriend and I joined a dancing group, but we left the group about a year ago and I’ve gained back the weight.

I lost 44lb on abilify by taking a bcomplex with it which curbed my appetite. I also calorie counted for the year. 44lb is a lot. So it’s quite possible to lose weight on abilify.

I had to stop buying stuff keep little in the house, no snacks, so I look in the fridge a lot but nothing there

I am not sure about Abilify… i am afraid of gaining a lot more weight… i had gained 40 pounds 3 years ago on that med. i would become so restless all i wanted to do was eat.

I lost over 40lbs while I was on Risperidone and Depakote- two huge weight gain meds.

This was in the past.

It is possible to lose while being on these meds @sleepybug.

Can i take bcomplex from the pharmacy?

Yes, or any health food shop. It’s just a bunch of b-vitamins. It seems to stop food cravings on abilify.

I have a years supply :smile:

I get the ones in the link above because they have only 100% of the rda(recommended daily allowance) of b vitamins.

I tried others, and found that b complexes with like 2000% rda actually seemed to interact with abilify. For me anyway.

I’ve successfuly lost wait taking antipsychotics while eating a diet of protein and vegetables about 5 pounds
Unfortunately can’t give up my love of rice and bread and gained the weight back, maybe will find low calorie versions of rice and bread i know they’re out there. I take zyprexa and clozaril.

Found a great alternative to rice but haven’t tried it before miracle rice.
