Has anybody tried to stop voices without use of meds?
I tried st.johns wort it made it worse and I then had my first episode. I have tried meditation and healing singing bowls… this helps somewhat.
Are you using meds now again?
Tried, failed, broke down, back on meds for good.
It got better when I found the right meds and doses for my body.
Yeah after my last episode I decided to stay on medication… I will probably be on them for the rest of my life.
OK thank you for your reply.
I just go to sleep/stick to what the doctor prescribed.
Several times. Have relapsed badly after each time I’ve gone off meds. Wife came close to divorcing me the last time so I no longer mess with my meds without her consent as it affected her worse than me. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to minimize how my positive symptoms affect me. This and therapy helps me function on what is not quite a maintenance dose of APs. I’m very high-functioning. You can be med-compliant and still be successful.
I did. I don’t know exactly what worked, but I had a somewhat hostile attitude towards them while I was ignoring them and acting as if they didn’t exist.

No I can’t function without meds. I start hearing ringing, laughter, people shouting and gossiping about me. I’m stuck with meds!
Yes. Meds have a lot of side effects for me… I also remember prev time I was hearing voices I tried not to hear them and they stopped. But then they also put me on meds. So not sure if without meds they would stop. But want to give it a try.
You never went on meds again?
I see thank you.
Yes. Do meds have side effects for you too? They make me tired and sleepy.
Not sure about that
Dont meds have side effects for you now?
Do meds have side effects for you?
I suffer from avolition and weight gain. I don’t move that much. I mostly lie in bed or the couch. I don’t know if it’s the meds or negative symptoms causing this. I’m on olanzapine and vraylar. Other than that I don’t have side- effects.
I am on Zyprexa. Weight management is important to counter the weight gain side effect. So I have to keep on top of that.
OK thank you for your reply.
