Has any book changed your life?

I like reading books. There are two books that have changed my life: One is Laozi which is a Taoist book, another one is The Art of Loving by Erich Fromm. The Art of Loving has tought me two important things: Love yourself is nothing to do with selfish; loving without understanding is false love.

one of the pains in my life is that my mom always gives me love with no understandings which makes me embarrassed and frustrated. After reading Fromm’s book I determined to be a cleaver person who has good knowledge of and insights into human beings.

I do like the Lao Tzu! It’s a great book. I’ve read many a book when younger…I think they all in their way change your view on things and life in general. It’s hard for me to be specific!

This is going to sound stupid but the manga series blue exorcist changed my life. Cause I found the main character very relatable. I saw parallels between his story and mine. It helped me realize I didn’t have to be the monster everybody thought me to be.

I have only read one Japanese manga book in my life. The story is intriguing but I can’t remember any details now as I read it about ten years ago.

Ah well that’s cool! Did you like it??

Blue exorcist is a story about demons so idk if I can really discuss it on here! But it’s really a good series!!

yes, I liked it. But not as much as I like Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings.

It’s very interesting that you have ever read Lao Tzu. I feel honored as Lao Zi represents Chinese culture.

Not silly, a comic series changed my life.

Neil Gaiman’s sandman series.

@green5…I like Taoism. It relates to my strange mind and I love the book of a thousand characters. I like it’s wisdom and there’s a lot to learn there. I’ve dabbled in the Eastern philosophy but Taoism is probably my nearest guide to my philosophy!

I guess there is no specific life altering book in particular but Native Son helped me see into the worries and concerns of another race. It was awesome.

Three books come to my mind that changed my life.

  1. To Kill a Mockingbird - by Harper Lee
  2. Siddhartha - by Herman Hesse
  3. the “Big Book” by Alcoholics Anonymous

Nice thread @green5  . Take care :v:.

No worries, and hello to you @MissOO

Jane Eyre was a big one for me,

just the story, and the humor, and the stubbornness.

And A Portrait of Dorian Gray was another big one for me,
some of these you just never forget.

thanks for asking.
