The woman who gives my Mom a shower is of Mexican heritage and she told us that Cinco de Mayo is an American Holiday.
They don’t celebrate it in Mexico.
I was surprised!

Kind of like how st. Patrick’s day is a somber church ceremony in Ireland.

Funny you mentioned this, that’s what she said!

I am Jewish Mexican, and I can attest to this. We don’t celebrate this holiday. It’s purely American.

I forgot that. We have a large population of Latinos and Latina’s here in California. You think I would remember that.

Happy Cinco De Mayo roommate-who pisses-me-off.

I don’t know anything about Cinco de Mayo can anyone tell me what’s it about??

Cinco de Mayo is an annual celebration held on May 5. The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza

NOT to be mistaken for Mexican Independence day, which falls on September 16th.
