Hello ,im from wisconsin and i did a drug overdose of amphetamine salts of 30mg taking 7 or 8 at once, and this is my 3rd time overdosing. i was in a treatment center for over a month it was overwhelming .
I turned to god and i read everyday im finally home with a cocktail of new drugs to take, they are haldol . these treatment centers down here in green bay are really bad the system is just…
They make take haldol in the morning and at night . but i already feel great because i was talking them at the treatment center for a month. i feel normal without taking it but i have strict parents and im only 18
it makes me walk alot and be sleepy, today i slept the whole day .
Should i just stop taking haldol again and feel the way i was before its really sad…
Haldol is tough for a lot of people to tolerate. If you’re having a bad time with it maybe you can talk to the doctor and see if there is another drug that will work for you. From the way you talk about Haldol it doesn’t seem like this drug is too hard for you to tolerate. In that case I would say stay on it.
You’re in control of your personal health. No one can force you to take medication if you are not a ward of the state. You can refuse prescription drug treatments, by all means.
Be advised, however, that it might be tricky to convince a doctor that you’re better of without prescription drugs. If you absolutely have to, just stand your ground and tell them you have rights - the right to not take these drugs.
I would, however, try to find a local therapist or something as an alternative treatment if you do, in fact, have a mental disorder or illness.
P.s. - Haldol caused me much suffering as well. I had to drop-out after three weeks on the pill. It caused too much irritability, exhaustion, and anguish.
My candid advice is not to stop taking your prescribed Haldol instead discuss with your doctor about the side-effects and he may reduce your dosage to a therapeutic level or least effective dose. I have been on Haldol since 1995 and it works well for me. However side-effects can be horrendous but I am on 2.5mg and I managed well. Alternatively you may ask your doctor to try you on Risperidone (Risperdal) or Palaperidone (Tablet Invega) the three medication are manufactured by Johnson & Johnson and they both have similar effect and potency however Haldol is a first generation antipsychotic and Risperdal and Palaperidone are second generation antipsychotic and they have lesser side-effects. Stopping Haldol abruptly can cause withdrawal symptoms which in my experience was worst than my positive and negative symptoms.
When they first started me on Haldol they had me on 40 mg a day. That was bad. I didn’t get that same dose when I took the shot, but the shot was bad enough. I do not like Haldol at all. If they tried to put me on it again I would choose to live on the street and not take it.
Haldol is mainly used when you are in a crisis situation. Once you are stabilized they will start trying out meds that have a lighter side-effect footprint and aren’t as tiring. In the meantime, please be patient and let the Haldol do its work. You’ve probably earned a break anyhow.
Things will get better! The fact that you are receiving treatment so quickly at such a young age indicates a much higher chance for a positive outcome. Your parents are doing you a favour.
I agree completely with Pixel. You have a better prognosis because of early intervention. Please do not stop your medication. I tried it several times and I relapsed requiring me to take high dosage of my Haldol. I have tried Risperdal, Olanzanpine, and recently Abilify which was combined with Haldol 1.5mg however I did not tolerate it hence my going back to Haldol. 40mg of Haldol is a very high dose because 30mg is suppose to be the maximum dose however doctors have discretion to use a higher dose for resistant schizophrenia but the side-effects can be horrendous. Were you given Procyclidine? Because 40mg will induce EPSE. Extra Pyramidal Side-Effects. Please I beg you never to stop your medication for there are many antipsychotic to choose from these days. You are a star and together we will beat this illness and come out victorious. Always keep your brain engaged it helps. Music helps too.
Too bad so sad. Drug-free & symptom-free now. Still trying to drop all the Abilify weight, but I couldn’t be happier now that I’m unmedicated. To each is own. My genetics are not phony & can do the hard work on their own.
Good to hear to you are medication and symptom free. I was for only weeks then my symptoms became worse and I have to commence my antipsychotic. I wish you good luck and please keep us posted for any new development. In addition Abilify work well for most people especially those who cannot tolerate other medication or people who want less side-effect however I could not not tolerate it.
I have been on Haldol most of my adult life. You may be just on too much of the drug. Talk to your doctor about the dose and do not go off your meds for any reason. You will just relapse then.
They gave me an injection of Haldol in the Hospital. One of the worst experiences in my life. I was taking a lot of LSD and ended up with severe hallucinations and delusions that wouldn’t go away. They put me on a massive dose of Haldol. When the drug wore off I wouldn’t take it again so they put me on Zyprexa.
The only reason I complied with treatment all these years is because the medication I now take was easy to tolerate compared to other meds I tried.
Don’t quit taking your meds but tell your doctor you want something else. Tell your parents you want something else. Heldol was developed in the 1950’s. There are newer meds on the market that have less side effets. I swear by Zyprexa it’s been a wonder drug for me.
hmm… If I could maybe help you to reconsider this course of action. You know I’ve never seen anything like anti-psychotic withdrawal before. You know I actually think it’s worse than most opiates. However, don’t take my word for it; you might want to consider doing more research on the subject of anti-psychotic titration. I don’t know how much you dropped all at once but I think abilify is actually one of the harder hitters- that’s probably why they give it out so frequently- because doctors follow statistics that show the number of decreased hospitalizations per medication the higher the number the more relyable the drug is- according to general protocol.
I don’t have any personal experience with abilify but I think it’s actually similar to Risperdal . Let me think off hand here if you go from ten milligrams to nothing you’re definatly going to go insane. With abilify I would guess that your would want to titrate the dose at .5 or even .25 miligrams per month.
It’s really hard work on the body. I think it’d be a lot easier to drop opiates- The constent tension the afflicts your whole body from your eye sockets to your thoughts to you hands and knees is actually ridiculously hard on the immune system. If I ever meet someone that dropped and anti-psychotic cold turkey I will acknowledge him as a god.
I actually think psyche meds are actually a lot harder than most street drugs- even anti-depressants they can be balls ridiculous to get off of too after— but APs… Man… You’ll never know what hit you.
And again, if you don’t want to take my word for it then do your research-from multiple sources of course- abilify is weight neutral! My ■■■■■■■ ass.
You know man… One good turn deserves another right? Please tell your sister to stop making those ■■■■■■■■ pictures. You know nothing really insults me more than angels who havn’t a snowballs clue of what they’re talking about- then we all just end up ■■■■■■ and screwed and then they just run away with the cake and pat themselves on the back. OK? You have no idea how many of those I ran into with my dashing mustache that I may as well just shave off anyway. OK? They always do the same ■■■■■■■■- whenever anything real actually happens though they just bolt and it’s always the same ■■■■■■■■ story- and then they act like they did something so noble- and I end up more screwed than when I started then they get praised and I get ■■■■ on. I’m tellin’ ya man I can’t stand to run into anymore angels with the expression of pity and tailwagging the leaves me feeling like an even lesser man then when I started. OK? well the jokes’ on them then huh? because they’re a dime a dozen. And the principal is what just pisses me off- no pun intended- They say men only want one thing…What a crock of ■■■■. Trust me- the dashing mustache is only cool for about ten minutes- and then you just wanna blast yourself because you’re a poor adult now and looks don’t get a man anywhere… you’re better off being fat and sane honestly… it’s completely worthless for a man, unless you love one night stands. Man I’m starting to long for Chris’s photoshop doodles man…
