Had a bone spur in my gum following a tooth extraction

Apparently these are really common. Felt like a sharp bit of bone sticking out my gum at the extraction site.

Online it said they fall out naturally so I just left it.

Anyway it just fell out and it feels so much better!

Sounds like it was a piece of the tooth that was extracted.

Yep I agree. Can’t see how a bit of bone from my jaw could end up there

I had the same, it can be a piece of bone! This how it was explained to me: by the force of the dentist twisting and turning when pulling the tooth, the root of the tooth that is sunk into the jawbone fractures of a splinter of bone. It will be stuck in the gums initially, but will be worked out of there naturally after some time. I had the splinter taken out later by the dentist.
