Group work?

Has anyone done any group therapy?

I’m in a DBT group right now and I find it really helpful on a few different levels. The information is relevant to me but also just the regular social interaction in a structured setting has been a net positive in my life.

I’m very pleased because I tend to socially isolate and, while attending group on a regular basis has been a challenge, it’s been a rewarding one.

I’ve been in a few groups. I didn’t really enjoy being in a group because I get a little shy about talking in front of a bunch of people. I didn’t feel that they really made a difference in my life but I felt I accomplished something if I was brave enough to talk.
I used to go to one and before group I would take a few big hits of crack in the adjoining restroom and then walk in late. That was like over thirty years ago. My most recent one was a NAMI group right before COVID hit.

The only group “therapy” I’ve ever been in was alcoholic anonymous. I can see how group therapy would be beneficial.

I like group therapy. There was one group I didn’t like, and I dropped out of it. But overall I find it helpful. I’ve even made good friends that way

AA is the only group I have ever functioned well in.
