@SurprisedJ, Yeah, in the nineties I tried to get your job for a long time. I tried to get on with the city’s Park Department. I stopped by city hall about once a week to check their listings for the cities jobs. I don’t know how hard it is in Seattle to get your job but in my neck of the woods it’s hard to get hired.

I was one of 5 very lucky ones who got picked for a vocational rehab program. It was co-sponsored with the city.
I started as a janitor with the city recreation centers… then when a job came up on the parks side… cleaning toilets outside instead of inside… I took that.
Then from parks maintenance branching out into grounds keeping.
It was pure luck. I am very grateful.

Yeah, when I was a Park Ranger there was a lot of emptying trash cans and cleaning restrooms. I did the opposite of you. I went from cleaning restrooms outside to cleaning restrooms inside!
