Got admitted to grad school

I registered for classes on Wednesday. Going to pay for it on Monday. I’m going to try for an MA in English and Creative Writing. I want to do either editing, technical writing or teaching ESL. I’m tired of not working. I want to be a productive member of society again. While I still have my health. And before it’s too late. And I definitely want to be in a field where I can work remotely.

I chose an all online university in the northeast U.S. I am very excited. I will start toward the end of August 2025.

I am going on a two week vacation in Spain this mid July before classes start.

I have worked remotely for two and a half years and it has made life so much better

No commute times, money spent or stress of using public transport

You can also control your environment for sensory issues if you have those

Temperature, sound and lighting used to really throw me off

Along with all the nasty behaviour of coworkers

It’s a win win

Definitely have a good work life balance which I never had before

Fantastic. I also start open university (online) in September. Inspired by a member here who is studying also at open university maths. I’ll be doing psychology.

That’s amazing! Sure shows that the arms on a clock could keep on ticking. At your age having the ambition to pursue a masters degree is amazing. If I was wearing a hat, I’d definitely tip it towards you. Stay motivated and keep moving in the right direction. Congratulations !!!

I need to buy a new computer for my studies before classes start. I don’t know whether I want a desktop or a laptop. I presently have an ASUS desktop and I’m very happy with it. I bought it in 2016 and its still going strong as if it were new. Which is amazing. But its not up to snuff technically anymore.

I haven’t had a laptop since about 2000 and I owned it very briefly so, I’m not used to them really. I suppose I could get used to it. Idk.

The uni recommends Dell as they have some kind of partnership with them to where students get discounts.

Can any of you guys help me decide?

@Bambam718. I get it from my late mother. She was always a definite CAN DO girl.
