Got a job offer and got scammed on the same day

So my interview went well. It was more of an informal chat tbh, they practically offered the job to me on the spot and went through what I would be doing (facilitating interviews for medical trainees in the NHS). I still have one more interview to go for a job I really want next Tuesday so i’ll be preparing for that.

And just now I got scammed. Paid £93 to a website that I thought was selling vintage hand crafted leather canvas rucksacks, the type that I love, deceived into thinking that the shop was closing down and it was their last ever sale.

After I bought the bag I was overjoyed, but then I took a look at the trustpilot reviews for the site and it was littered with 5 star reviews all made on the same week for a business that claimed to be around for 27 years. I found this out because of the small amount of 1 star reviews that showed me the light- this site is ran by scammers and the photo of the so-called bag maker is clearly an AI generated image, you’ll see how if you check out the site:

I feel so stupid, I’ll call the bank tomorrow and tell them about these ■■■■■ taking my money.

Don’t feel bad, I learned this one the hard way and had to dispute $4,000 of charges used to purchase cryptocurrency. It was a fair fight with Mastercard as they did not want to refund me the money I was scammed. In my case I tried to buy a photo and slide scanner that was too good of a deal to be true. Dumb of me, and that’s how I got hit.

Happy to save others the headache if I can.
