I have been having intrusive thoughts for momths and months. My heart starts racing whenever i get around people these intrusive thoughts are about. It makes me feel like i’m some kind if freak and it is causing major distress. Does anyone know what type of meds help?

Make sure you tell your doc about the intrusive thoughts and how they’re distressing you. It might not be to do with ocd.
I’m no doctor, but I would assume that it’s the job of an antipsychotic to keep those at bay.
Let us know what the doc says on Friday.
I already take zyprexa
If it is OCD, the typical course of treatment is antidepressants. They usually don’t prescribe them to folks who also have sz, but there are exceptions. Nonmedical options are neurofeedback and cognitive behavioral therapy.
I’m on abilify and get the odd intrusive thought still. But it’s rare enough. Are you on a therapeutic dose of zyprexa ? (10mg I think)
20mg. 5 in the morning and 15 at night

I’m taking clonazapam for my anxiety. And also zyprexia and clozaril. I also suffer from severe intrusive thoughts. I think people can read and see my intrusive thoughts too. Instead of my heart racing it’s hard for me to swallow and I feel like I’m going thru psychosis.

@lostinthespace I have OCD and I am sure that Risperdal makes it worse.
I have heard that sometimes certain Antipsychotics can trigger OCD symptoms or make existing OCD symptoms worse.
I am pretty sure that Zyprexa can do this but it’s best to talk with your psychiatrist about it if you haven’t already.
