Ginkgo biloba

I consider it a very risky supplement. But I’m desperate so I finally caved in and ordered some. It interacts with metformin which I take. I’m hoping that taking it as a prn might be ok.

Anybody use it ?

I already used it before diagnosed with sz and after.
In my opinion doesn’t make such a difference. To me it only made more carefree with the voices and the results weren’t good.
I never tried the tea tho…But it’s a beautiful tree that I want in my garden someday :upside_down_face:
Fun fact - it’s a super old plant from the jurassic or some sort of thing that survived over thousands of years

But try it and see for yourself, it doesn’t hurt you! If you take the right dosage it might help you…To much and could give u headaches(it’s the worst that can happen)… You never know  my doc prescribed to me once…

Yes. I’ll give it a go anyway. For a short while at least.

Ginkgo biloba can trigger or worsen anxiety.
It might even make me manic.
No thanks.

Why are you on so many supplements @everhopeful?

You’ve got to be careful.

Because of abilify.

Beta Alanine and L-theanine for abilify anxiety
Bcomplex to curb abilify hunger pangs
Taurine for abilify muscle stiffness

These all seem to be pretty safe supplements though.

I too don’t consider Ginkgo safe really. But I’ll give it a short trial and take it from there. I’m desperate.

Yes, why do you ask zoa?

You seem edgy a bit, might be wrong.

Actually I am a bit edgy zoa!
You read me right.

We’re waiting for a big snow and ice storm to hit us tomorrow.

I’m just a bit edgy.

How does it interact with metformin @everhopeful?

Yes I’ve ordered 120mg capsules. Maybe I just won’t take them. I might just throw them in the bin I think.

It “significantly decreases HbA1c” apparently. So it’s like a double whammy for your blood sugar if you’re taking metformin.

I think I’ll just throw the ginkgo in the bin when it arrives.

I tried it a long time ago. It is so easy to fool yourself about such things, but I did think I was thinking smarter after I took it.
