my Bday is today lol
anyway, I’m in the overnight unit, in a back brace, I was right the idiot doc wont come in because only the rod slipped, not the internal brace. the hospital orthopedic consultant is meeting me soon to discuss options, but they gave me a print out of the three most popular.
option 1: disk replacement surgery. Where they simply replace the damaged disk (in my case the one in three pieces, provided the pieces haven’t fused yet), using a ‘bone mold’ with some bone taken from my rib cage and a surgical steel ‘mold’ that is shaped like the disk. possible negative effects influde fusing of the bone mold to the two disks on either side, and rejection of the bone mold, requiring further surgery.
Option 2: fix the rod, and add another for extra support. Pretty basic, they just secure the rod that broke, and add another one, just in case.
Option 3: A temporary artificial disk, and wait for a donor disk. Riskier than the other two, but with better long term results if successful…they take a disk from a recently deceased person, cut it in half, fit it over my exposed portion of spinal cord, ‘glue’ the two pieces together, plus a brace frame to keep it from moving, and take anti rejection drugs for six months until, the bone fully integrates…
I’m thinking of option three, the paper work says there is a lot less pain, and if successful the recovery time is 1-2 years total…whereas with the other two, recovery time is closer to 3 years, with more side effects…
also…i hate hospital food, but they wont let any bring me anything from outside, because one “Surgery in the morning” and two, I need t lose weight…I hate doctors sometimes…the one who talked to me about my weight had to the nerve to say I should be ashamed of myself for not listening to my GP about it…and this guy makes me look thin!!! plus my GP can be an idiot about things…telling me to eat more plant proteins which have less fat, even though it states in my medical records I cannot digest plant protein…
anyway, thanks for te support everyone!
