Don’t expect too much to happen right away, other than intense sleepiness. The effects usually take up to eight weeks to show up.

I already feel tired after an hour has passed since I took the Geodon.

One thing I forgot to mention, and maybe nobody else has either. My doctor didn’t tell me until I’d been on it for months.

Geodon MUST be taken on a full stomach. You need at least 500 calories of food, because of how it’s absorbed into the body. Otherwise, it will all rush through you, make you feel really sleepy, then be out of your system in a couple hours.

Thanks for the trying that note out for me! My pharmacist noted this as well. I just had a sandwich and some hummus.

Also, I don’t know if you drive, but you might want to avoid driving for a week or so. Sudden sleepiness is a huge problem when you’re adjusting to a new med, and falling asleep at the wheel is a bad time.

I was not aware of that as a side affect. I have to drive far tomorrow. I’ll see how I feel before I make the trip. It’s not necessary. I’m off from work tomorrow.
