Gender difference in schizophrenia poll

On social media because men are less likely to talk about mental health I see women with schizoaffective so I wonder if it’s more common for women to have mood disorders and men just have schizophrenia so I’ll do a poll to see if what I’m seeing is a accurate

  • Men schizophrenia
  • Men schizoaffective
  • Women schizophrenia
  • Women schizoaffective
  • Non Binary schizophrenia
  • Non Binary schizoaffective
  • Other
0 voters

I think I know what you’re asking, but I want to make sure before I vote.

Are you asking what our gender and diagnosis is?

I want to see between people who is more likely to have schizophrenia to schizophrenia and bipolar

Right…but you arent asking for our opinions on what is more common…you are asking for our gender and diagnosis, correct?

never mind I’ll just vote. I think I understand.

You can give an opinion or vote what ever people feel comfortable with, it’s just a general question

Question, why is schizophrenia and bipolar mixed to make schizoaffective and not separate diagnoses?

I don’t know for certain. I imagine because the symptoms of both mix and interact in a way that makes it simpler to give it a single diagnosis rather than two. I can’t say for sure though.

This poll excludes our non-binary members.

Sorry I didn’t think of that @Bowens can you edit that in

Btw, I just refreshed my knowledge on this question…and I dont think schizoaffective is the same as schizophrenia with bipolor. I think you can have schizophrenia with bipolar or you can have schizoaffective which is a combination of schizophrenia symptoms and mood disorder…I dont know, Im not a pdoc, but I think both are valid diagnosis based on what I just looked up.

I dont know what you want me to edit. If I edit, the current poll results will reset anyway.

Yes, I know, but first you have to tell me if you are willing to have the poll reset and second, you need to tell me what exactly you want me to enter into the poll as options.

Same but include others that I forgot to think of to be inclusive

Hows that?

I included an other option as well.

There isn’t a clear answer on if sza is sz + mood disorder or a separate diagnosis . I took abnormal psych a couple years back and he talked about sza being a “controversial” diagnosis

I was first diagnosed depression with psychosis then paranoid schizophrenia so I wonder if people have bipolar which leads to psychosis or just plain schizophrenia or if its both

Other people’s diagnosis doesn’t change yours
