I’ve had this idea in my mind of when I become a nurse practitioner and give my therapy sessions, maybe I will have a pet dog, a little cute one like a pug, certify it as a therapy dog and bring it to sessions for my clients that like animals.
I think having an animal present can be really soothing. Whenever they’re discussing something that makes them very upset they can take a break and cuddle with my pooch. I know I would really appreciate that, I think it would make it easier for me to open up.
I’m a nurse in the Netherlands. This form of therapy is already applied here. Unfortunately, there is less time for these kind of therapys overhere and this is only applied by volunteers. We can now use a robot seal that entertains the clients.
I think I recall hearing on the news awhile ago about the robot therapy seal so I believe it’s real. I don’t recall if it was used for those with dementia or for alzheimer’s.
Well, that’s possibly a great idea because they proved long, long ago that animals are very therapeutic to ill people. When I was in the big psyche hospital many, years ago, they brought in dogs for us to pet and play with for that exact reason.
