There are other differences too between British and American spelling. If you don’t research this you will end up with a mix of the two.

I like the word “kerfuffle”. It’s not commonly used in the US—but I like to use it

When I try to speak a foreign language I cannot roll my “r’s”. It’s like my tongue is too think. I’ve got a pronounced twang in my voice. Okies don’t really have a southern drawl. It’s more a twang.
