Awkward reading moment

do you ever get those awkward moments when you look at a common word and it looks like you spelled it wrong, when you didn’t spell it wrong…?

that just happened to me, when I saw the word “first.” :confounded:

I think it was the typing font that drew me off. :disappointed_relieved:

That happens to me all the time with becoming. I feel like it should have two Ms.

it was worse for me, this time. I looked at the word “first” and I thought it was 5 random letters, mushed together… :disappointed_relieved:

I’m losing it. :disappointed:

Does it also happen to you with speaking? I always feel like the word gift should sound differently than it does, and I stumble over it.

I think all this madness happened because I forgot to eat. :confounded:

I was busy and forgot. :disappointed_relieved:

I think I do that sometimes I just can’t remember when I do because I don’t pay much attention. Oh wait no raspberry and February. The p in raspberry and the extra r in February. I had like a ten minute talk today about how that p should not be in their because we do not pronounce the p. I also talked about how English is broken.

be careful when you go to super super graduate school. such liberal intellectual thinking and classroom takeovers are… not much favored there… :disappointed_relieved:

Half of the English words are intentionally misspelled because the higher class English people wanted to appear more fancy. The whole letter Q used to just be CW until William of Normandy decided he wanted to be like the French.
